Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of tryal.dev (the "Service"), operated by Volodver LLC ("Volodver", "we", "us"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you ("you") agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it to these Terms.
tryal.dev is an online platform for practicing AL development for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It lets you read problems, write and run AL code in your browser, submit solutions for automated grading, and track your progress. Some problems and features are free; others require a paid Pro subscription.
- Eligibility. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Registration. You may sign in with Microsoft, GitHub, or an email and password. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it current.
- Account security. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. One account per person; do not share your account or let others use it.
- Free plan. The Free plan is available at no charge and is subject to usage limits — currently 50 compile checks and 10 submissions per day, plus access to free problems. Limits may change.
- Pro plan. Pro is a paid subscription billed monthly or yearly. It unlocks additional Pro-only problems, removes the daily run and submission caps, and includes editorials, as described on the pricing page.
- Billing. Subscriptions are sold and billed through a third-party merchant of record, which acts as the authorized reseller and seller of record for your purchase and processes payment on our behalf. Your purchase is also subject to the checkout and buyer terms that provider presents at the time of purchase.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. We will give advance notice of material price changes, which apply from your next renewal.
- Cancellation. You can cancel anytime from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep Pro access through the end of the period you have already paid for. Your solved history remains either way.
- Refunds. Payments are non-refundable except as set out in our Refund Policy or required by law. Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory right of withdrawal or other non-waivable consumer rights you may have; the Refund Policy explains how to exercise them. Refund requests are decided by Volodver under the Refund Policy and processed by our merchant of record; chargebacks are handled with our merchant of record under its buyer terms.
- Taxes. Applicable sales tax, VAT, or GST is calculated, collected, and remitted by our merchant of record and shown at checkout. Depending on your location, listed prices may be shown inclusive or exclusive of tax.
- Trials and previews. Any trial, beta, or preview features are provided as-is and may change or end at any time.
You agree not to:
- copy, scrape, or bulk-download problems, editorials, tests, or other content except as the Service allows;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with rate limits, the paywall, grading, or other technical controls;
- reverse engineer or attempt to access non-public parts of the Service, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
- submit code or content that is unlawful or malicious, or that is intended to attack, overload, exploit, or gain unauthorized access to the grading infrastructure or any system;
- resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties, or share a single account among multiple people;
- use automated means to create accounts or to inflate leaderboard standing;
- use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others.
- Ownership. You keep ownership of the AL code and other content you submit.
- License to us. You grant Volodver a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, compile, execute, transmit, and display your submissions as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service — for example, to compile and run your code in Business Central containers, store your history, and provide support.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for your submissions and represent that you have the right to submit them and that they do not infringe others' rights or contain anything unlawful.
The Service and its content — problems, statements, tests, editorials, software, design, and trademarks — are owned by Volodver and its licensors and protected by law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use the Service and its content for your personal, non-commercial practice. Pro-only content and editorials are for your own use only; do not republish, redistribute, or share them. The tryal.dev name, logo, and related brand assets are not licensed to you.
- Open-source components. Parts of the Service may include components offered under open-source licenses, which govern those components; these Terms govern the Service as a whole.
If you send feedback or suggestions, Volodver may use them without restriction or payment.
The Service relies on third parties, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and AppSource, sign-in providers (Microsoft, GitHub), our merchant of record and payment provider, and hosting and infrastructure providers. Their services and terms are independent of Volodver, and we are not responsible for their availability, changes, or actions.
EXCEPT FOR ANY NON-DISCLAIMABLE WARRANTIES REQUIRED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." VOLODVER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, RELIABILITY, ACCURACY, SECURITY, AND AVAILABILITY.
Volodver does not warrant that the Service will meet your needs; be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; that grading results, hints, or editorials will be accurate; or that the Service will work with every browser, device, customization, third-party extension, or future Microsoft change.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOLODVER IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, OR GOODWILL; LOSS, CORRUPTION, OR INACCURACY OF DATA; BUSINESS INTERRUPTION; OR PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
- Cap. Volodver's aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of USD $100 or the amounts you actually paid to Volodver for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the liability.
- Essential purpose. These limits apply regardless of the legal theory and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
You will defend and indemnify Volodver, its affiliates, and personnel from claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your submissions or content; (b) your use of the Service in violation of law or these Terms; or (c) your violation of any third-party right.
- Term. These Terms apply while you access or use the Service.
- Your choice. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
- Suspension or termination by us. We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach of these Terms or for legal or safety reasons, and we may change or discontinue features.
- Effect. On termination, your right to use the Service and any Pro access ends, and we may delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy. Fees already paid are non-refundable except as required by law or as stated in Section 3. Provisions that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and governing law — survive termination.
You must comply with applicable export-control and sanctions laws and must not use the Service in prohibited countries, by prohibited parties, or for prohibited end uses.
- Law and venue. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules.
- Arbitration; no class actions. Any dispute will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration under the AAA Commercial Rules in Denver, Colorado, in English. No class, collective, or representative actions are permitted. Either party may seek injunctive relief in court for misuse of intellectual property or breach of confidentiality. This section is subject to any non-waivable rights under the law where you live.
We may update these Terms for new features, security, or legal reasons. Changes apply prospectively and will be posted with an updated "Effective date." For material changes we will give reasonable notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
These Terms (together with any order or purchase terms and the applicable plan description) are the entire agreement between you and Volodver regarding the Service. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Neither party is liable for events beyond its reasonable control. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
